TRAAV Treasurer departs

It is with some regret that I inform our RAAV members that our Treasurer Ben Ellis has stepped away from the RAAV Committee for personal reasons.

Ben’s wife Lorraine recently suffered a fall which resulted in her being hospitalised and is currently receiving rehabilitation care.
Ben is committed to supporting Lorraine with her on-going rehab care when she returns home.

Unfortunately, we have lost a valuable Committee member of the highest order.

Ben’s commitment has been without question and has recently led the Committee updating our accounting processes.

We wish both Ben and Lorraine  all the best as work to ensure the best outcomes and a speedy recovery.

RAAV Executive Meet with Ambulance Victoria

Information Notice

On Monday, December 9, The RAAV Executive met with Ambulance Victoria’s Community and Partner
Engagement (C&PE) Team who have been tasked with reviewing all of AV’s Memorandums of Understanding.

From their perspective, the purpose of the meeting was to understand who, why and what the purpose of RAAV is.

Our explanation highlighted the fact that we are a diverse group who have during our working careers, suffered a range complex work related injuries both mental, physical and latent.

There was a mutual understanding that many of these injuries will persist for extended periods of time or may very well not manifest to well after separation from AV. Thus, the importance of all former employees to have access to an appropriate level of on-going medical care.
The C&PE team advised, their process was to collectively review the information to better understand the Association requirements and needs, then engage with Senior AV Management to determine how to support the Association and therefore former employees. Further comments/clarification on their offering, will then be sought from the Association, prior to
submitting a document to the Association for consideration.
The Executive reiterated the importance of on-going support for work related physical and mental health injuries. In particular, access to the appropriate treatment options for all of our members.

Without firm timelines and the need to get it right, this will be a slow process.

Collectively the Executive agree that we need to actively support this process, to develop a meaningful long term working relationship with AV, to achieve the best outcomes for Association members and for all former employees.
