“How Are You Travelling?”

Wimmera Region

On the 20th August 2019, I started up the “How Are You Traveling?” (Wimmera Region) Support Group.

After seeing another similar group in Gippsland, run by Bernard Goss, and thinking it would be good to have a group in the west of the state too, I decided to start the “How Are You Traveling?” (Wimmera Region) Support Group.

I journeyed over to Sale to attend one of Bernard’s sessions to find out about his group and then returned and started my group in Stawell.

The support group is for Paramedics, ACOs, CERTs, NEPT Staff, TZV Staff and anyone employed in, or retired from, the Ambulance Industry.

It's a safe place to discuss any issues you may have in relation to your Mental Health.

It is run without any connection to Ambulance Victoria (AV) other than some attendees and myself being employees of AV. What is said in the room, stays in the room.

I am trained as an AV Peer Support Volunteer.

The Victorian Ambulance Union is a great supporter of my group as is the Manager of the Stawell Neighborhood House, who allows me to use their facilities for free.

Meetings are usually scheduled every 4 - 6 weeks and on a Thursday night from 18:30hrs to 20:30 hrs and pizzas and soft drinks are provided.

Location:
Stawell Neighborhood House
42 Sloane Street, Stawell.
(Next to Cato Park)
